Who can apply?

Homeschool familyFamily with a child in private school
  • A qualifying eligibility determination issued by a North Carolina public school is required.
  • Residency, age, enrollment and other program requirements apply. Full-time homeschool students can use funds for allowable expenses.

What could it support?

Curriculum and educational technology are listed categories. Approved purchasing channels and product requirements apply.

Make the purchase fit the program.

Ask the funder to confirm Glow, the number of learners, the license period and the purchasing method before buying. A listed expense category does not by itself approve a specific product.

Request an individual-learner quote. Scholarship funds may cover only one student’s portion of a shared subscription.

Who receives your request?

NC State Education Assistance Authority · ESA+ team

First apply for the student’s scholarship account. After an award, use the administrator’s purchase process for eligible learning resources. The Glow packet supports the purchase request; it does not replace the scholarship application.

How to submit

  1. Use the official account portal to complete eligibility, identity and enrollment questions. Upload private student documents only there.
  2. Select ESA+ and provide the required eligibility documentation through MyPortal. After an award, use the ESA+ purchasing rules; it is a separate program from Opportunity Scholarship.
  3. Once awarded, ask the administrator to confirm the exact Glow product, license term and individual-student allocation before purchasing.
  4. Use the approved payment or reimbursement process. Keep the approval, itemized invoice and required learning records.

Key points from the provider’s guidance and the next steps for your application or purchase request.

  • ESA+ eligibility and application process (opens in a new tab)

ESA+ requires an Eligibility Determination issued by a North Carolina public school; a doctor’s letter or 504 plan does not replace it. Families apply and upload documents in MyPortal. The next school-year application opens on the first Monday in February 2027. Check the enrollment rules and prepare the required documentation before that window.

  • Current allowable expenses (opens in a new tab)

ESA+ lists curriculum, educational technology, tutoring and therapy among allowable expense categories. Product rules and purchasing procedures still apply. Use the current expense guide to identify the right category, then ask NCSEAA to confirm the exact Glow subscription and retain the required purchase records.
