Who can apply?

Public / charter school or teacher
  • Funding flows through states and local educational agencies to eligible schools and services.
  • A classroom teacher or parent does not submit a new individual federal grant application.

What could it support?

The district must check the schoolwide or targeted-assistance plan, students served, evidence requirements, cost and procurement rules for the specific project.

Official national reading and math figures, with each source and year, are compiled on Early learning statistics.

Make the purchase fit the program.

Ask the funder to confirm Glow, the number of learners, the license period and the purchasing method before buying. A listed expense category does not by itself approve a specific product.

Who receives your request?

Your district’s Title I coordinator or Federal Programs Director, with your principal

This is a district budget request. A teacher sends the proposal to the district; the district manages the federal application and purchasing process.

How to submit

  1. Find your district’s official staff directory and look for “Title I,” “Federal Programs” or “Grants.” If no contact is listed, ask the principal or district office to identify the budget owner.
  2. Confirm the recipient’s work email and the district’s required request form. Send your proposal and itemized quote through that email or internal purchasing system.
  3. Ask the coordinator to review the school plan, expense classification and budget availability. Include technology, accessibility and privacy review when required.
  4. Wait for written purchasing approval before ordering. Keep the approved request, purchase order, invoice and implementation records together.

Official sources

Key points from the provider’s guidance and the next steps for your application or purchase request.

  • Federal program and administration (opens in a new tab)

Title I funds flow through states to districts and eligible schools to provide additional academic support. Services depend on the school’s approved schoolwide or targeted-assistance program. Teachers do not apply directly to the federal government. Take the reading or math project and quote to your district’s Title I coordinator for review against its plan and budget.

  • State administration example: Pennsylvania (opens in a new tab)

Pennsylvania describes schoolwide and targeted-assistance routes for Title I reading and math support. This is an example of state administration, not a national application portal. Ask your own district to check its plan, student eligibility and purchasing rules.

  • NCES district directory (opens in a new tab)

NCES provides a public-school district directory, including district identifiers and contact details. Use it to locate your district, then check the district’s own staff directory for its federal-programs coordinator. Send the proposal through the district’s verified work email or purchasing system; NCES does not receive funding requests.
